I knew there was a new excitement in Kathmandu people. Well that was not because our budget finally passed; KFC is in town. I was informed that I could get some good photos of people queuing before KFC opens for public. I was not sure patience less Nepalese people would ‘wait’ for anything and that for chicken at 11 am. To my surprise, there was a big queue. Some were even taking photographs in front of it as it was a new landmark of Kathmandu.

Mostly it was the youth. The same youth I know who can’t wait for 10 seconds in the red light in traffic signal. It was the same youth that can’t wait to pay their telephone bills. I could see such patience for the first time in a Nepali youth. Patience taught by brazillian chicken.

I saw the queue for few more days (haven’t gone there lately though). I just don’t understand why Nepalese people are so eager for tasteless chicken that comes all the way from Brazil. I said tasteless because it was tasteless to me (yes I tasted). KFC is supposed to be cheap. But you order, pay, wait for the order, take your food ‘yourself’ to the table and pay 10% service charge. WTF. And Nepalese seem to enjoying and call their friend and say I’m at KFC with nepali-english accent, Finger licking good anyway.

Most of the young guns go to Pashupati for marijuana. There was a corner in Pashupati premises, where it seemed like street vendors selling marijuana.

“It’s good that the priest is changed. But the way is not right. Today, Maoists changed the priest, tomorrow CPN may change, then congress.” A local near pashupatinath temple told informing about the strike they called the next day. After talking to some locals, I found that they are happy that Nepalese priest is appointed. But the way is not right. There are some rituals to be performed, and there should not be politics. Maoists should have learnt some lesson from the controversy in Indra Jatra in interferring culture.

Journalists protested, Police barged the protest and a journalist was injured. But at the same time our Prime Minister was busy lighting ‘panas’ and inaugurating the third inauguration of South Asian Free Media Association (what an irony) and doing bla bla bla. There is new constitution to be written in the country, but our PM, always busy attaining programmes, inaugurating festivals. There is strike everyday, people being killed and kidnapped everyday in terai, but our pm stills lights up panas, receives peace award (recently he was awarded Dr. dilli raman regmi peace award). Thats why nepalese people made you the PM, just to inaugurate festivals, programme and light up PANAS. First PM of GANATANTRA NEPAL or GUN-TANTRA NEPAL, PANAS MINISTER not PRIME MINISTER.

Around 50 YCL cadres barged into the office of Himamedia at Hattiban, Lalitpur. They attacked the staffs who were in the meeting including Editor of Nepali Times, Kunda Dixit, CEO Ashutosh Tiwari and Executive Editor Kiran Nepal and injured ten staffs. This is not the first time there has been attack on media. This is the press freedom of NEW NEPAL. I think the government forgot, its the media which is the backbone of ‘Jan Andolan-2′ and the politicians are at the place now. Media, the fourth pillar of country is not safe, the how a normal life in this country be. Shame on you who show their cowardness attacking media. SHAME ON YOU. More you want to terrorise the media, more powerful it gets. (more photos)
